Architectural Elegance Baron Palace: A Digital Restoration
The Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis, Cairo, a masterpiece designed by French architect Alexandre Marcel, is an architectural marvel blending Art Deco, Hindu, and Neo-Egyptian styles. Inspired by the Angkor Wat and Hindu temples of Orissa, this early 20th-century palace features three floors and a rooftop with panoramic city views, ornate with motifs of monkeys, elephants, lions, snakes, and Hindu deities. During a visit to Egypt, I was captivated by its intricate design and history, leading me to ambitiously model the palace in 3D to real scale, based on dimensions from a blueprint displayed in a museum, capturing its unique essence and architectural grandeur.

From Digital Model to Film: The Baron Palace's Journey in 'Unhandled Exception'
Building on the detailed recreation of the Baron Empain Palace in 3D, I extended the use of this model to the realm of filmmaking. In 2023, I directed a short film titled "Unhandled Exception," which featured the palace as a central element. The digital model of the palace, with its intricate architectural details and historical significance, provided a stunning and authentic backdrop for the film. This integration not only showcased the versatility of the 3D model but also brought the Baron Empain Palace to life in a dynamic and contemporary medium, blending history with modern storytelling.
